{"id":53,"date":"2020-06-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westmaitlanddentistry.com\/covid-19-and-your-dental-visit\/"},"modified":"2020-06-23T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-23T00:00:00","slug":"covid-19-and-your-dental-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westmaitlanddentistry.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/23\/covid-19-and-your-dental-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 and Your Dental Visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The concern about COVID-19 has hit an all time high. \u00a0As we try to navigate back to our daily routines, visiting your dentist might be on your to do list. \u00a0Here at West Maitland Dentistry we are doing everything we can to minimize the spread of the disease and as always making sure we strictly adhere to the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/hcp\/dental-settings.html\">CDC\/OHSA disinfection and sterilization guidelines<\/a><strong>. \u00a0Additionally we\u2019ve implemented some more measures to ensure your dental visit is a healthy and safe one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some of the further precautions we are taking:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Questionnaires: before you even enter the practice we are screening patients to see if they have any symptoms related to the virus or if they have been tested for the virus.<\/li>\n<li>Temperature checks for both patients and office staff.<\/li>\n<li>Minimizing aerosol producing procedures. \u00a0Meaning that in some cases we will use hand instruments, instead of a machine, to clean your teeth.<\/li>\n<li>The use of N95 respirators, surgical masks and face shields of staff for all procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Minimizing the amount of patients in the waiting room at one time.<\/li>\n<li>Removing sharable items such as magazines, coffee machine, water fridge and children\u2019s toys\/books.<\/li>\n<li>Sneeze guard for our front desk.<\/li>\n<li>UV light sanitization or one time use of pens\/safety glasses.<\/li>\n<li>Requesting all patients use hand sanitizer when they enter our office.<\/li>\n<li>Requiring all patients were masks in the office until they are seated in the chair.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>When should you reschedule your dental visit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patients that are 65 and older: if you have medical concerns discuss with your physician whether it is safe for you to be seen..<\/li>\n<li>If you have any of the following symptoms: fever, sore throat, cough, GI issues or any other flu like symptoms.<\/li>\n<li>If you have been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COIVD-19, if you have tested positive within the last 10 days to COVID-19 or if you are awaiting test results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What are some precautions you can take?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear a mask upon entering and leaving the office.<\/li>\n<li>Use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the office.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly and properly.<\/li>\n<li>If you do contract the virus change out your toothbrush!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We want to remind you that we are here for you and if you have any questions or concerns about your dental visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westmaitlanddentistry.com\/blog\/contact-us\/\">contact us<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The concern about COVID-19 has hit an all time high. \u00a0As we try to navigate back to our daily routines, visiting your dentist might be on your to do list. \u00a0Here at West Maitland Dentistry we are doing everything we can to minimize the spread of the disease and as always making sure we strictly [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-53","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.0 -
